Martin Special 35 Style Bearclaw Engelmann Spruce Top Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural

The Martin Custom Shop Special 35 Herringbone takes the "workingman's dread" to the next level. The wows start with the top, which is made with hand-selected, premium Engelmann Bearclaw spruce. Primarily found in old growth trees, it gets its name from the cross-grain patterns that almost appear to be bear scratches. Martin utilizes forward-shifted X-bracing for the top, which moves the center of the "X" closer to the soundhole. Developed in the 1930s, this pattern allows the top to vibrate greater for increased projection and a deeper low end.

This heirloom-quality instrument features Indian rosewood on the sides and three-piece back. The satin-finished mahogany neck has a comfortable, modified low-oval-profile with a high performance taper. Mother-of-pearl dots line the black ebony fretboard.

Herringbone binding dresses up the Special 35, which is also outfitted with a black ebony bridge, compensated bone nut, bone saddle, upgraded headstock logo and Grover vintage-style chrome tuners. It comes with a molded hardshell case.
